    A friend is asking. He tried playing a video that works in windows with the proper codecs (and also in VLC) but no audio when playing the same file in VLC in OSX

    For osx? I didn't see a download for it but I might have missed it. And wouldn't VLC have the codec built in?

    Yes, VLC has all its codecs built-in and doesn't make use of external codecs.

    Have your friend run the video through MediaInfo, tree view, and copy the information given, then send it to you so that you can post it here.

    Is he using the latest version of VLC? He might also try one of the various OS X GUIs for mplayer, to see if the audio plays there.
    If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
