I could use some help. Just recently all my attempts at burning blu-rays have failed. I was getting so many errors during the burn I decided to lower the speed from 8x to 2x. Now I only have a copule errors but they still fail.

I use IMGBurn and the first error is always this:
W 13:09:29 Failed to Write Sectors 0 - 31 - Reason: Program Memory Area Update Failure
    W 13:09:29 Retrying (1 of 20)...

but it then continues successfully until the end:
    I 13:55:01 Finalising Disc...
W 13:55:06 Finalise Disc Failed! - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format
    W 13:55:06 Retrying (1 of 3)...
W 13:55:06 Retry Failed - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format
    W 13:55:06 Retrying (2 of 3)...
W 13:55:06 Retry Failed - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format
    W 13:55:06 Retrying (3 of 3)...
W 13:55:06 Retry Failed - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format
    W 14:05:22 Retrying (4)...
W 14:05:22 Retry Failed - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

So I end up with a coaster most of the time. Once even with those errors it was playable but mostly I've got expensive coasters. Any idea what is wrong? Nothing has changed, same version of IMGBurn, same burner and firmware, same media (even the same spindle). I would like to try new firmware but I crossflashed my BH08LS20 to BH08NS20 back when I got it and now the official firmware updater can't find my drive and I couldn't find out how to restore it. From google searches the error is caused by incompatible media but like I said I haven't chaged it, I've burned almost 50 of the same media with no problems before.

have you ruled out hardware problems? test your ram and is there enough free space on the c: drive? at least 50GB?

How do I test the ram? I've tried Memtest in the past but I always cancel it after it has ran for a day. Why do I need free space on my boot drive? The files are on another drive (and it is only 22.8gb). Copying the files to the boot drive to burn them seems inefficient to me, and I can't free up any more space on the drive, I've only got a 74gb boot drive. Is there an option to change what drive it uses for temp files?

Are you running AnyDVD,if so exit AnyDVD when you burn. This would apply to similar programs,DVD43,DVDfab and so on.

  5. What type of media are you using?

Wulf109, anydvd will only screw up imgburn if you have verify checked. I leave anydvd running in the background all the time without errors.

I'm using TW brand which IMGBurn says is RITEK-BR2-00. I just used last one (Same finalization errors but it plays) and my new spindle IMGBurn reports as PHILIP-R04-00. At the time that I got them they were the only white inkjet printable BD-R's I could find.
