  1. Since YouTube is broadcasting in wide-screen now, I'm trying some rendering settings in Vegas that will send my videos up to YouTube to "fill up the whole screen." I usually don't have a problem using the Image setting of "High Definition (1280x720)," but this last time, I wound up with a really "choppy" video image. (I don't know if I'm describing that well. "Jittery" maybe.) (My camera was set to "wide screen format" when I shot it, so that part's not a problem.) The only thing I did differently this time was that I brought in some effects in Vegas ("brightness/contrast" and "sharpen"). I'm rendering to a WMV file type, leaving rendering quality at "Good," using "Quality VBR" mode, a frame rate of 30, and an Image setting of "High Definition (1280x720)." The rendering took much too long also (an hour and 40 minutes.) Does anyone have an idea as to why I might've wound up with such a poor result using these settings? My other rendering of this same footage was rendered with an image size of "Animation (320x240)" and came out fine. It just doesn't "fill up the screen" in YouTube.

Thanks in advance for any help on this!

you might try using the sony avc template. there is one for Internet 16:9 HD 30p that works pretty well for youtube and it's their preferred format.

any effects will slow down the rendering.

Hey, thanks so much for the quick response, aedipuss. How do I get a hold of this template? It's not in the drop down menus in Sony, of course. I guess I'll Google it.

    Any other help is appreciated!

Also, there is one correction in my opening post. I did not have my camera set to wide screen.

  4. If you open the file you created on your computer before uploading to YouTube, does it look and play ok?

What version of Vegas are you using? There should be an option for encoding to H.264 using the Main Concept codec. This will be your best option for YouTube. Make sure the video data rate is at least 4,000kbps.
