1.) How do I use Imgburn to burn .avi files?
2.) What settings/tab should I check and not to check, or leave them on default?
3.) Is there a way to see if I am going over my burning limit of 4.7GB?

Be aware that Imgburn will burn your AVI files as data. It does not do conversions or create DVDs.
If your intention is to burn AVI files as data for playback on a suitable player, well and good, and MovieGeek's advice is spot on.
If, on the other hand, you want to create a DVD Video disc, use AVStoDVD to first convert and author your AVI file into the correct structure, then use Imgburn to burn the results.Read my blog here.
