New pc broke already???

Guys just bought me a new pc about 6 weeks ago, and last nite the modem I think quit working. In my area only thing I can get is dial up. And last nite it just disconnected and will not reconnect. All I get is the dial tone when trying to connect.

I uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers, modem, I hooked up a laptop to the telephone line and it works so that eliminates the line. Also tried setting up different connections and still nothing.

Any ideas because I am out of them. It is an Acer 3 ghz dual core.

Try contacting Acer Customer Support? It's still under warranty, have them suss it out for you, since they would know your particular machine better than anyone here would. It could be any number of things causing it, bad modem, incompatible drivers, etc

What CBC said; plus most versions of Windows have a 'Connect' troubleshooting function.
