    Have you tried eac3to?

  3. yeap, gives me an error that there is no directshow nero decoder available (althought it is: ffdshow and coreavc).
BTW, FFmpeg converts the file ( ffmpeg -i xxx.aac -acodec ac3 -ac 6 -ab 640k xxx.ac3) but the channels have changed order (ie central becomes left..... etc.)

  4. You need a specfic version of nero, (nero7) for it to work with eac3to

You can use foobar2000, or avisynth + soundout(), behappy, or megui

  5. I dont have Nero 7 wave editor... Behappy saves in stereo only.....
I'll mux the sound with a random video to create a mkv and feed it to hdconverttox or megui and see what happens

It's possible you didn't set behappy up correctly; try using bassaudiosource() for aac input (depending on where you got behappy, you may need to download components and dll's separately)

Make sure your directshow chain isn't downmixing to stereo (e.g. mixer in ffdshow isn't checked off)

If you are using MeGUI, you don't need to mux to video, just use the audio

Try with f2k, convert to wav, import wav in Belight or EncWav2AC3 and convert to 5.1 ch. AC3...

  8. I added the bassaudio dlls to behappy, still saves in stereo (ffdshow mixer is checked)
I dunno what f2k is... i wish belight could open aac files...
Anyways, i made a mkv and fed it to ripbot264 and convertxtodvd, got no errors....they still encode..... i'll let u know...
    Thanks for the replies

You have to use bassaudio, not directshow.

If the mixer in ffdshow audio is checked, make sure it is set to 6-ch, otherwise that could explain why it is downmixing to stereo when you are using directshow to decode. Or just uncheck it.

  10. ok, convertxxtodvd worked fine, after it finished encoding i ripped the audio from the vobs with smartripper and joined the pieces with mkvmerge. Channels are in correct order

poisondeathray: yes i checked bassaudio (not directshow) in behappy. Also Ffdshow is not the problem, it is checked to 6 ch. and also ffmpeg did gave me 6 channels when i tried before, the problem was that aac and ac3 have diferent channel positions/tables ( 1 is center for aac but left for ac3) so it was messed up...

    Thanks for your help

Another way to convert AAC to AC3

    1. Convert (Decode) AAC to wav using Nero AAC Codec (NeroAacDec.exe) command line version.
Alternatively NeroAAC UI can be used if you don't want to use command line.
    2. Convert wav to ac3 using Eac3to.
Alternatively EAC3to conversion utility if you like GUI.
