  1. Hi,

I'm trying to convert some MKV and OGM files to mpeg2 AVI, via Avisynth frameserving.
I prefer mpeg2 instead of divx, xvid, etc. because of the greater portability.

However, in VDub's Compression menu I cannot find any option for the mpeg2 codec.

Is there any plug in or some way that enables Vdub to encode into mpeg2?

I decode the sound separately and I have no problems with it.

    Thanks.

Vdub doesn't encode to Mpeg-2. There was one encoder that could plug into vdub, but I cannot recall the name. It was payware, however.

If you are already using avisynth, why not serve directly to HCEnc and encode the video that way. No need for vdub in the mix at all, really.

All that is left after that is to mux the two together to get your MPG file.
