Hi there. I'm a newbie on all this video matter. I recently got myself a Samsung HMX-H100 video camera. It's a pretty good camera, and now that I'm trying to playback and do some editing on my computer I'm having big trouble.
The playback is extremely slow and choppy

My machine has an AMD Athlon 64 x2, 1.9 Ghz, 2Ggb RAM, and 250 Gbs hard drive.

The question is... Is this enough or I need more ram ??

    Thanks everyone

    What is your graphics card?

More ram wont help. Try play with MPC-HC, VLC or Splash and see it makes any playback difference.

But editing HD will be slow even you upgrade your system.

  3. I think your processor may be borderline for H.264 playback, although I'm not up on AMD cpus, so I'm not sure. With those computer specs, you need a video card (or onboard video) capable of DXVA and a player that's DXVA capable, like MPCHC.

[EDIT] The Boss beat me to it!

As Baldrick suggested try a few other players. My Computer is a bit below borderline and I'm surprised when something plays W/O the problems you mentioned. I've downloaded every player listed in the tools section and usually one of them will work, not always the same one, but usually one of them will. Also, chances are if it wont play well it wont edit well. I use TSDoctor sometimes for some simple cuts but I have to use it without the video preview activated. I just use the audio.

Tnanks for all the good info. I'll try tonight those players and see what comes out.

I forgot to tell but I have an NVIDIA GeForce 7150M and use Sony Vegas to edit my videos.
