  1. What is a good VirtualDubMOD replacement, i'm talking about the feature of encoding multiple audio streams.
    in other words:

Which software is the best to make Avi's with multiple audio tracks, BESIDES VdubMod? And Avidemux don't work for me, been there, done that.

Or, how to make Vdub (normal) store and encode multi audio???

AVImux GUI won't encode the audio for you, but if you have the streams, it will add them. Also does subs and a good range of video and audio formats.

  3. Encoding AND adding is key for me, so no.
i'm trying automkv now, but I guess cos it's not really intended for this sorta work, it's really slow, and it seems to do a lot of unnecessary crap. i think i might give either avi.net a try or mediacoder.

If you want the final output to be AVI, why use AutoMKV? Doesn't it output MKV/MP4/WMV?

If you want multiple audio tracks, you should use a modern container suited to it, like MKV.

You can use any tool to encode the audio streams (eac3to gui, MeGUI, whatever) and then mux them all together with MKVmergeGUI (or an AVI muxer of your choice).

I kinda rest my case, seems you've answered your own question. I mean, if you think using an MKV merger/muxer is bad, why recommend one? ...

Of course, I might me mistaken about the nature of those 2 apps, but I don't think so.

Megui is really overly complicated, there's no easy guide with pictures etc. I need serious handholding for that one.

AutoGK, WinAvi, they come close but they all fail on being able to accept precise settings, no 112 mb/s for audio, no 704*384 size. Maybe these are a little exotic, but hey.

    Any other ideas, please?

I think you misread my post. I simply said, if *you want AVI*, then it doesn't make sense to use AutoMKV. If you want *multiple audio streams*, then you should use MKV instead of AVI, mainly because MKV is a more modern container whose multiple-audio-track support is basically guaranteed among players. Using an MKV muxer is *good*.

If you want to go with AVI, use AVI-Mux GUI to do the muxing as guns1inger suggested. You have to encode the audio and video streams separately. You should be able to do that in Vdub...I think.
