  2. BigMs,

I am new too in making subtitles. However, I wanted to remind you that if you're using MPEG-1 compressions, the subtitles will not be like DVD playbacks where you can turn on/off. It will only be with subtitles or without subtitles. However, if you use MPEG-2 compressions, you can make it like DVD playbacks (turning off/on). MPEG-2 compression can only be made as SVCD/XSVCD. Although, I successfully made my disc as MPEG-2 compression but burn as VCD, I do not recommend to others because not many players supports my type of disc. You could go to the left (under How To) and learn how to make your subtitles. Hope this info would give you some ideas. Jordan

  3. I know this is old post but I just found a nice solution to burn subtitles from text file (SRT, SUB or simmilar DivX format) on VCD (and SVCD). Unfortunatelly these are nonremovable subs, encoded into picture.

Complete and nice tutorial is at http://www.inwards.com/~dbb/digital_fansubbing.html

But there is no software which will convert SRT file into appropriate SSA script - so, I am curently writing one nice tool to do that

Let me know if you are interrested !

  5. I tried but it does not support Encoding (important for my, Croatian language subs) and PlayRes setting which I use to have proportional sizing for each movie.

My tool will not have so much options but it will create v4 SSA script with PlayRes, Encoding values and have predefined styles for common resolutions (NTSC, PAL, 4:3, 1.85:1, 2.35:1 ...). I am planning to ad autoamtic reading from SUB and other subtitle formats (not only SRT) becaue I am too lazy to convert it externaly
