We have a tower with VGA and USB inputs. It does not have HDMI or DVI. If we add a Blu-ray burner down the road, can we burn Blu-rays with VGA or USB? How do most of them hook up? Thanks.

If you have an usb2 input it should work fine.

Thanks Baldrick. I forgot to say before, it would be an internal Blu-ray burner. Does it matter what inputs are on the back of tower? Someone told me if it's an internal burner, the rear tower inputs aren't used.

Your question is sort of confusing. I think what you're asking is if you add a blu ray drive would your pc be able to burn blu-ray discs. You'll have to buy a blu-ray burner to have that capability. Blu-ray drives are hooked up inside a pc via a SATA connector on the motherboard.

If you're talking about playback of blu-ray movies then you don't need HDMI or DVI outputs unless you're hooking up your pc to a LCD/PLASMA TV.

Thanks budz. I'm talking about burning Blu-rays(if we add an internal Blu-ray burner) and watching them on a stand alone Blu-ray player. We DO NOT want to watch them on the computer. So it sounds like my tower would work. I thought it depended on the rear inputs on tower.

So you're saying you wanna back up your blu-ray movies on a blu-ray burner. Then play them back on a standalone blu-ray player? Why not just play them back on a standalone blu-ray player?

  7. If your "tower" is more than three years old it may not function very well with a blu-ray burner. Blu-ray burners can be attached externally (usually via USB/Firewire) but they come in a separate enclosure and are more expensive than an internally fitted blu-ray drive, which will normally use a SATA connection. If your motherboard is older it may not have a SATA connector, just IDE. Best to give more details, nearer the time of purchase.... especially as the world is ending on dec21 2012
