Hello everybody!
I want to upscale SD video file to HD. So I used Distort -> Transform but got problem with the exported file.
The exported file looks jumpy and I see duplicate frames during playback. It sounds like wrong interlace setting.
But I set everything correctly. Here's the detail:
Premiere CS4
SD video file: MPEG2 720x576 25fps interlaced
HD project: XDCAM EX 1080i 50i (HQ)
Export setting: MPEG2 HDTV 1080i 25 HQ (I tried both Upper and Lower)
Tell me if you need more information![]()

Premiere probably misidentified the field order of the source. You need to convince it your source is the opposite field order. In many programs you do this by right clicking on the source in the timeline and selecting properties or field order settings from the context menu.

Use the same sequence settings as your source; in this case it's not xdcam.
Change the field order in those sequence settings, if the preview is correct, then keep that field order in the export settings
Upscaling isn't very good to begin with - you can't recreate details, you only waste space as more bitrate is required for the larger file. It's usually better to let your player/TV upscale. Also, PP's algorithm is very poor. You're better off using other software if you insist on upscaling. Also, resizing interlaced content is tricky to do properly. -
