    Watched some movies over at a friend's house last night on his 42" display. He went into the TV settings and turned on something called DCM. All of a sudden the grainy HD movie we were watching looked exactly as though it was shot on a consumer grade video camcorder. It was amazing. "Pirates of the Caribbean" looked like a bunch of guys running around in costumes. "Rosemary's Baby" looked like a soap opera. "Apocalypse Now" looked like "the making of Apocalypse Now". The only thing that gave it away was the professional sound and lighting used on the movies. There's so much written about trying to make video emulate the qualities of film, this setting did precisely the opposite.

    Has anyone else tried this out?

    Throw the tv set out, that setting will ruin your eyes. I'm not a fan of this feature.

    The only thing I see it being useful for is sports and cartoons or making Star Wars look like "As The World Turns".

    Great suggestion - Star Wars. It really does feel like you're watching the movie again for the first time.
