So now I just downloaded an .avi that has a .rar file with subtitles attached to it. I do I go about adding in the subs if needed? Are there certain programs I should use? Thanks in advance.

If they are .srt subs, just put them in the same folder as the video, named the same as the video, and your player should find them.

So when you say "your player" does this include my PS3 playing my movies?

I don't know about a PS3, but with .srt subs, they are commonly put in the same folder as the video. That's the way it works with most software players and the few set top Divx/XviD players like the Philips 5990 that I have used.

Apparently not on PS3. I tried to put both the mp4 and the srt in a folder and it says unsupported data when I try to open it. Oh well. Thanks for the help though.

MP4? I thought you were attempting to play subs with an AVI?

(You don't have to convert an AVI to MP4 to play it on the PS3. Be sure you're using the latest firmware for the PS3, though. Also, if you want to add subs to an AVI for the PS3, you can try adding them to the AVI with AVIAddXSub.)

Edit: Oops - meant to say that you don't have to convert the AVI to play it on the PS3 if it has a DivX/Xvid video stream and an MP3 audio stream, for the most part.
