i can't get audio out of my vob files for anything, can someone please help? here's what i do:

i'm following the first couple of guides under the dvd rip section, and have tried to extract sound using

    dvd2avi
    vob2wav

both of these create a nice large (2gig) wav file that is not a recognizable standard wav by my computer (so i have no way to test it first)

the next step is to use tmpgenc

i select the d2v file created by dvd2avi for the video
i select the wav file created by either program mentioned above

then i try a little 4 min test to create an svcd
i try the mpg2 file to play on my machine and low and behold, a perfect video rip, but no sound whatsoever.

    how do i get sound?[/b]

  2. Windows doesn't like audio files over 2 gigs. Try using DVD2AVI to frameserve only 1/2 the vobs in the movie and save as Part 1 (or whatever) and then do the other vobs as Part 2. Then the wav. files should be fine.

  3. ya, just separate the vobs into two groups and go about it as if they were two completely separate movies...the .wav file created from each group should be small enough for mplayer to handle

so in order to break it up, just do this:

only put vob 1- 4 and make d2v/wav files for those, and then do the same for vob files 5-8?

will this effect me down stream later when i try and cut the movies to fit on disks (i'm trying to make svcds)

if that becomes a problem, just use dvd2avi again for vob3-6 or something like that?

  5. I would do 1-4 and then 4-8 in that case. Then when you go to encode in TMPGEnc you have some overlap between the 2 d2v files and can cut the movie where you want.
