Hello All. This is my first post although I have monitored this site for several years and have gleaned a lot of good information. I have not seen this problem posted before. I have a JVC HR-S9500U SVHS. I am archiving my VHS tapes to DVD and recently have encountered an audio problem on random recordings. I get a background noise somewhat similar to a crackling sound. It is the type you get when the video calibration signal pops up on the screen. It is there from start to finish but not constant. It will last 1-2 seconds then go away for 10-15 seconds then return. As I mentioned, it is random and does not show up on all recordings...I just never know when it will hit again. I've tested the tapes in other machines successfully so I know it is not coming from them. Any help on how to remedy this would be appreciated.

Is this the HiFi or linear track? If HiFi, I'd first think a tracking issue.
