I bought a CCD-TRV70 to play back tapes of family memories to dub them to DVD, because years ago my original Hi8 camcorder broke. Unfortunately, it seems the camera used to record them must have been slightly out of alignment since there are parts of recorded segments that have either no audio or stuttering audio. Is there a way to make adjustments to the guide pins/rollers or to the head itself to try to better read the information on the tape? I am not concerned with using the camera to record new footage; I only want to read what is on the tapes. I have experimented with the camcorder during playback at the segments where there is no sound and it seems that by pushing/lifting the tape housing improves the sound readability drastically. I read somewhere about adjusting skew, but since I am not familiar with the schematics of this camcorder I am not sure how to do this. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be greatly appreciative.
