I'd like to know if there is a way to transfer CCD V5000 Hi 8 video to digital/my MacBook for editing? Or, is there an easier editing method than using a VCR?

I took a look under “How To”, but didn’t find the answer.

I am NOT very familiar with video language. Thanks for the help.

I take it this is analog and not minidv?

If so you will need a capture card that is mac compatible.

If it is minidv than you can simply use a firewire cable to transfer the video in realtime to the computer.

If you can find an old digital 8 camera that can handle analogue tapes and output digital then you can use firewire directly. Otherwise you should probably look at an intermediate firewire converter like the ADVC range of products. You might also be able to use a mini-DV camera that does analogue pass-through.
