I am new to bd. I used multiavchd to authorize some videots and avi files on to verbatim bd-re disc. the burning process was completed w/o any problem. but my Magnavox blu-ray player did not play the disc because the content on the disc is not compatible. can s.o. help me ? thank you

  2. I'm pretty sure *NO* Magnavox player can play BD5/9. That is, Blu-Ray structure on a DVDR. The only exception is (was) the NB500MG9, which could do movie only AVCHD. I tried the Magnavox NB530MGX (a newer model) and it wouldn't play either full disc or movie only. Although it's just possible it was because I used DVD+Rs booktyped to DVD-ROM rather than DVD-R. So it's probably BD media or nothing for you.

That's by-the-bye, however. To address your question, it may be that your player simply will not play BD-REs. What is the model number? I haven't seen any reports that the 530 can, in fact, play anything but BD-ROM. Tried a BDR25?

    Sorry.

This is still pretty early in the game, and information can be hard to come by. For anyone interested, here is a partial list of standalone Blu-Ray players that can play AVCHD and BD 5/9:

It reminds me of the early days of DVD. :P

    thanks for your response,
My model is magnavox nb500mg9. I check the manual it does play bd-re ver.2.1 (single/double) recorded in bdmv format. it also said "unclosed discs may not be played backed" which I don't really understand the meaning. I don't understand why it didn't play because I am using bd-re ver.2.1 25gb and the content was recorded in bdmv format.
I really need a solution for this.

  4. Use ImgBurn to write your discs in UDF 2.5. ImgBurn will warn you to do so and will use the correct setting.

If that doesn't work, then it may be the player doesn't like BD-REs, or the particular brand you're using. If you have some BDRs, try them. If it still doesn't work, the problem is earlier in your process.

    Good luck.

  5. Did you use [Blu-ray output] mode in multiAVCHD and burn the BDMV+CERTIFICATE folders in the root of the BD-RE disc?

Finally I found where the problem was. the avchd output folder was inside the multiavchd folder which was burned into the bd-re disc. bd player couldn't read it. after I separated the avchd folder and burned it, it worked.
    Thankyou all.
    Here is another problem:
I tried to update the multiavchd to the latest version/built. I got the message "need to update the datfile.exe". I got in the author's website to install the new file. but when I tried to update again, I still got the same message. meanwhile the old version still woked w/o problem.

  7. There is a link to download the .dat file (you can see it in the LOG tab)... just extract it in your multiAVCHD folder to overwrite the existing multiAVCHD.dat

p.s. Always read the LOG messages. If you did that, you would've noticed the message: Burn ITS [output-folder] CONTENTS to BD-R/RE disc.
