I am just trying to figure things out, so please forgive me when I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about. (Because I don't). I'm just hoping to find someone to be patient with me. I am trying to produce a DVD. I had to take the audio off my DVD camcorder (which I did). I am putting it with still pictures (which I did). Now I don't know what format I need to output my movie in? What is recommended that will play on most DVD players? I have DVD Fab and AVS Video Editor. Again, I hope I have given you all the information you need, but please let me know if you need more. (I have Windows XP.. if you need to know that). Thanks

DVD uses Mpeg-2 for video, and preferably AC3 (dolby digital) for audio, although LPCM is also OK for NTSC DVDs. See What is DVD (top left corner of this site) for details requirements.

What software are you using to put the audio and images together ?

    Can it output mpeg-2 ?

I am using Photoshop Elements slide show editor. It will only let me output as a NTSC or PAL file. I read the articles you talked about, but I guess I am still confused if I just need to convert the NTSC file to Mpeg-2? I did use a Memorex DVD-R(which I have just learned is not recommended but all I have right now.) Do you think the DVD is the problem or do I need to convert the NTSC? Again, sorry I sound confused, but I kindof am. Thanks for your help already. I have done a lot of learning on here already even though I might not sound like it!!!

Output as NTSC video in the highest quality you can. I don't know Photoshop Elements, so I don't know what options you have, but if you can output to DV-AVI, that would be best. Otherwise try installing either huffyuv or lagarith lossess encoder and render to that (large files, but best quality).

Once you have that video, use AVStoDVD or DVD Flick (both free) to convert to mpeg-2 and author as a DVD ready for burning. Burn to a quality DVD blank (Verbatim or TY recommended) with Imgburn.
