Does this card support 4:2:2 video? I have 8ft BUD and fta and can get 4:2:0 and dvbs2/8spk through a pansat 9200hd receiver but need 4:2:2 since most sports feeds seem to have gone that route.
Thanks
John

Gday,
to be able to view 4:2:2 Chroma video, the only requirement is the codecs installed on your pc. Elecard produce a codec that does 4:2:2 as does a few others. I will try and hunt down a few links for you on this.

Gday, I have just been looking around on the net for more info on this. I have not found any decent pages yet but what software are you planing on using with the card?. I use ProgDVB (standard) and it works great but have also used DVBDream, Alt-DVB etc. ProgDVB is probably the easier of the lot if you have and Diseqc switches to set up, but they all work well. The software that came with my card (Avermedia) was pretty poor in comparison. If you decide to use ProgDVB etc you can also use a normal tv tuner in your pc at the same time.
Elecard, Bitcontrol, Nvidia and Nero 8 all seem to support 4:2:2 chroma and also TSreader used with VLC player can be used on 4:2:2. I have not personally used TSReader so I cannot comment about that software, but I do have VLC Player installed and that appears to use its own decoders for video so will support 4:2:2 without installing any mor codecs on your pc.
I am still hunting though, I am also interested in this for some broadcasts, but have trouble testing it as there does not appear to be a reliable 4:2:2 broadcast from satellites I can receive (just the odd feed).
I will keep you posted with what I can find/test.

Thanks for the help James! I have no idea about the software. My only experience with cards is with an usb wintv-pvr. It worked ok for me. But I only watched on my pc monitor.
I got a pansat 9200hd receiver for my BUD setup and then the sports programs went to 4:2:2 have no way of getting them. I was looking at AZbox and Quali but they seem to have issues.
So I'm looking to the card option for my pc. I'm not even sure how the setup would go with a card if I want to view it on my tv. Guess I would split off the signal going to the pansat from my BUD, run it through pc and software, output from the video card (dvi-d) and back to the tv. If that's the case I need to convert dvi-d to hdmi (probably will need a new video card for that).
Regards,

Gday mate,
I am having some troubles with my pc at the moment so may be a few days before I can get some more info. The signal should come into the card from the back of your existing decoder box by using the "loop out" socket that should be below your LNB input. I think you will need to have the decoder box turned off when you use your card but am unsure as I have not done it that way before. another way you could go about this is by getting a dual output LNB and run a seperate cable fron the dish to the pc, that way you can tune channels independantly of what the STB decoder box is doing so you have the possability of watching or recording 2 programs at once. With the DVI input on your TV, there are VGA (15-pin) to DVI adapters available but I am unsure if it is then a DVI-A or DVI-D signal. Most cheapish video cards would be ok for your use, unless you are into gaming aswell. The codecs that ou use can also make a great difference in how the program is displayed, I have gone from a studdering, pixellated mess to crystal clear picture just by changing the codecs. Are you planning on outputting the audio back to your tv aswell? the DVI connection only carries video and not audio like HDMI so you will need a extra cable for that, If possible try and get one the same length or close to the length of your DVI cable to help avoid lag between audio and video (small problem though). I was able to give TSReader a try but it is not compatiable with my card ao do not know how well it works. When I get my pc rebuilt in the next few days I will test it all out and keep note of my findings for you. -
I have just done some more reading, and TSreader streaming the video to VLC player seems the easiet to use as it appears to work once installed without codec worries. I am unsure if this can be recorded to the pc though. I will be rebuilding my pc's tomorrow & day after where I will try tsreader with my DVB-T card as that is compatiable and will let you know how it goes and if your card is included in the compatiable list. I quite like getting ProgDVB etc to work because if you include a tv tuner card / usb tuner it can handle most of them too. The problem is that from what I have read it uses a LOT of cpu power for 4:2:2 HD streams. TSReader+VLC Player seems to use the least, also if TSReader is compatiable your can use that and VLC player to stream the video to any other pc's if you have a network.

Gday,
Just done some testing and TSReader does list a DVBWorld tuner in it's compatible list so that should work and I have tested VLC Player 1.0.2 (latest download here) and if you right click on the video display and select view then advanced controls a record button appears on the left hand side at the bottom (little square with red circle). It saves the video in the my documants folder as a *.TS file that can be re-played with VLC or edited and burned to DVD/blue-ray.
