I need a program that can tell me detailed information of a DVD disk (book type etc.), and DVD Video/Audio in particular (codecs used etc.). What I need is basically something like Avicodec but for DVD's.

    johns0, thanks, that's a great program.
However, it can't tell me anything about the content.
I have some DVD Videos which I want to burn. My DVD player only supports Dolby surround but not DTS audio. I need a program that can tell me what kind of codecs a DVD Video disk contains.

G-Spot or MediaInfo. Open one of the VOB files and you can see what is in it.

It would be very rare for a disc to only have DTS audio. The DVD Video specification requires at least 1 AC3 or PCM audio track as a mandatory requirement.

If you open up your DVD files with IfoEdit, you can find out how many audio channels there are, what type they are and what language they are. Also you can find out the subtitle information.

Commercial DVDs cannot have DTS only audio for the reason that guns1inger mentioned. It is theoretically possible to have a DVD with DTS only, but such a DVD will violate DVD standards. I've only seen this done on rips where someone deliberately removed the AC3 track.
