    Greetings

Bad subject line but I have a couple of issues. I have a Wolverine MM100 MyMovie cheapo camcorder that works just fine for my relatively low expectations. I took three movies a few weeks ago, copied them to my local drive, imported them into iMovie, and uploaded them to YouTube with no problem. The are initially saved as MP4 files.

I just tried to do the same thing and I am unable to import them into iMove. I continue to get an error that says: "An error occured during import". It appears almost immediately when I click the import button. This happens whether I try directly from the camcorder or after I copy the files. I read a post about first using Streamclip to convert the files from MP4 to mpeg-4 (not sure what the difference is, if any).

I just tried using Streamclip ato export nd I get a similar error almost immediately: "Error, can't prepare the movie". Streamclip does recognize the movie just fine. I can play it within Streamclip's editor but as soon as I try to export I get the error message.

Any assistance would be appreciated for a newbie who just wants to get a few bad videos up to Youtube of my new baby.

    thx

Ok so that I get your post straight:

    1. You can get the file off of the Wolverine camcorder onto the Mac correct?
And it currently resides there correct?

    2. the files on the mac play fine in MpegStreamclip ( and I assume Quicktime player?) but cannot export due to an error "can't prepare movie".
This error usually refers to either (a) the header for the file is hosed,
and so it cannot successfully determine what it is to transcode from
to its final format, or (b) that the file resides on a HD that is in need of
    repair.

Have you tried running Disc Utility on the HD that contains the files?
Can you try and re-import/copy them back to the Mac HD after doing this?

Yes, I have copied the files to my Mac hard drive and the originals are still saved on the flash memory card of the camcorder.

Yes, I can play the files fine in Streamclip, Quicktime player and iTunes.

When I try to import them into iMovie I get the error message as well as when I try to export from Streamclip.

I haven't ran Disc Utility yet.

    thanks

    1. run Disc utility and try to repair the HD, and then try to
open in MpegStreamclip and export again to DV Stream.
    What happens then?

    2. Have you tried to open a file directly off the flash memory card
in MpegStreamclip, and then try to export that to DV Stream?
    What happens then?
