  1. I recently had a processor go out and ended up getting some new hardware which is cool. I started to get back into working on some audio video projects and am I having difficulties. I have some DV that I shot that I am transferring to the computer to work on. I am using the 1394 port for the best quality transfer. the transfer works and the files are created no problem. I wanted to work on the look of my current video....it is a little dark so I was planning to lighten it up some. Once done I wanted to make a computer friendly version (a smaller file type compared to the AVI or MPEG sizes) for upload to the likes of You Tube or maybe some to the video iPOD. I have a Studio 8.6 Pinnacle Studios and I have used the Windows Movie Maker in the past. However, Studio 8 is giving me this scene detection error and Windows is also having its issues. For example, I import the video into Windows MM and it shows in the clips area, but when I add it to the storyboard it freezes up. I am getting similiar problems from both programs which leads me to the thought there is a single underlying problem that I don't know. I just want the high quality video to be cleaned up and then convert the file to a more friendly computer file to share. Any ideas. The current file is 348MB which is a little bit but not alot. I am running a AMD Athlon Dual core 5200. It is like a 2.7 GHZ with 2 GB of Ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated......frustration time need a break. Thanks

    getting some new hardware
Start from the begining and well help you locate the fault.

As a quick Q, did you reinstall the os ?, what hardware was actually replaced ?

  4. Yeah, I ended up replacing the motherboard, the procressor, new 2GB of RAM, needed a higher output power supply, and for fun upgraded a newer video card. The only thing I had from the existing computer was the case, the burner and hard drive. I reinstalled my Microsoft XP Home because of the valiadation process. Repair did not work at first so after I made sure I had all my main files backed up, I did a fresh full install of Windows XP. I did a slew of updates and driver updates for all my items so this seems to be the last bug in the system so to speak. Thanks for the help.
