  1. Diamond is one of the best heat conductors there is, much better than aluminium and copper. Someone was bound to exploit it sooner or later.

I found some for £7.49 (about $12 US) on Ebay, so I might give it a try.

When you do try it ... could you include the CPU and heatsink used ... and the mobo too if possible.

  4. IC Diamond 7 has been out for a couple of years, so it's not really a "new" idea; but the delta in temps is not as great as in this review.

^^^Yup, IC Diamond 7 has been out for a long time. IMHO that's not a good comparison since AS5 has a long cure time. From what I've read that IC Diamond 7 is not easy to apply. I like using ARTIC COOLING MX-2 for all of the builds that I do now. Also it would really depend on what heatsink is being used as well as the fan. Just my 2 cents!

One thing that has been considered with diamond thermal paste is that over time it can actually start wearing at your heatsinks. The diamonds are so fine though that I would think they'd be more like a polish instead of actually wearing through the IHS or something.

I don't think anything is going to beat a pelletier for gapping the chip and HSF yet.
