After burning, the DVD changed to CD

My DVD-RW drive is unable to copy DVD into a DVD disc as the DVD format but CD format though it still can copy the DVD to the computer hard drive. After burning, the created DVD disc changed to the CD format. Have you seen this kind of problem? Does the drive have problems?

I have seen this type of behavior in a few drives when they had no write strategy in their firmware for the brand of disc being used, or when the discs where particularly low quality. If it is an older drive and newer discs, a firmware update may solve the problem.

Thanks for the info. But, the drive had no problems to copy DVD into a disc before until recently. Is it still possible due to the firmware issue? It is very strange that the drive still can copy DVD to the computer hard drive, copy CD or play the DVD movie except for copy to the DVD disc. The created DVD disc changed to the CD drive in My Computer.
