Some time in last month or so my WMP lost the "print cd label" option when 'file' is clicked. Not like it's there but grayed-out and unusable but not listed at all! I don't know what caused this but it was suggested to reinstall WMP11 from MS site.

Without uninstalling, I tried the reinstall. This hasn't recovered the option.

This disappearance is one of the stranger things I've observed. Everything in WMP works fine, same as before, except for that.

    Suggestions? And what happened?

The CD label maker was part of Microsoft Plus, it shows as a plugin in WMP. Do you see it listed under the Tools>Plug-ins menu? It is installed at Drive:\Program Files\Windows Plus\CDLM.

Do you mean the Tools>Plugins in WMP toolbar? No, not listed there.

In Program Files, WindowsPlus is shown and has 4 folders inside, and CDLM an 2 others have 0 bytes, Party Mode shows 16MB. Is this the reason?

    Thanks

    Yes.

Looks like the CD Label files are missing. Should be a couple of files in the main folder named CDLM.exe and CDLMPlugin.dll. Should also be three other folders - Images, Res, and Templates. You would need to reinstall Plus to get this functionality back.

The exe and dll you refer aren't in the W+ folder. Images, Res and Templates are files in the W+ CDLM folder but all are empty.

I've been told the only fix is reinstall OS. Is this true?
Or is there a CD or d/l install for WPlus available since a WMP update/reinstall doesn't?

Microsoft has discontinued Plus! SuperPack for Windows XP and Plus! Digital Media Edition, since Vista came along. Reinstalling the OS will not fix it as these are separate apps, not part of the OS. If your system came with Plus preinstalled, check your recover CDs to see if you have a recover applications one, that's where they would be. You should be able to just install what you need without having to reinstall everything to factory condition.
