I am recording videos with my VIXIA HF100. My trouble is that I need to convert the m2ts files into WMV or AVI to run through an analysis program. There are several problems I am running in to.
    1) I am having trouble transferring the files from the SDHC card to the computer. For this I have been using the ImageMixer3 software that came with the camera. It sucks. This is not a large problem I was just wondering if there was a better way.
    2) My main problem is that I need to convert these m2ts files into either WMV or AVI (WMV preferred) and I would like to be able to edit the movies in Windows Movie Maker as well as watch them. I don't care how I watch them I just need to record data so if there is something better than Windows Media Player that would be nice to know.
Here are the details of my problem. I am using SUPER converter and I will follow all the directions, drag and drop the video file select WMV and WMV7 codec (WMV8 and 9 produce error messages), I do not need audio so I disable it. Super then has FFmpeg selected for internal encoders. Everything will look like it gets converted and the video will appear but it has a duration of 0:00. When I try AVI almost every output codec looks like it converts but when I try to open the files with WMP I get errors such as "Class not registered" I have been testing using two different file sizes, a 3MB video and a 500MB video. When I look at the file sizes after conversion they are both around 10KB.

Any help would be appreciated. If there is a better conversion program that fits my needs (m2ts --> WMV or AVI) that would be helpful too. I am running on Windows XP with 1GB ram, 100GB memory, 3.2GHz. I am unsure of any particular codecs and such that are on this computer as it is not my personal computer. Thank you for your time.

You can also try the free mediacoder or xvid4psp or winff and convert to avi(mjpeg, xvid, etc) or wmv.

Or use VoltaicHD($30) and convert to avi, it is designed for avchd m2ts to avi conversion.
