    Hi,
I am using Mac OSX 10.5.7 and ffmpegX 0.0.9y to convert mkv files w/ subtitles to Xvid.
Recently some newer mkv files have come up as "Unrecognized" on ffmpegX and MKVtools.
Handbrake and Visualhub will recognize and convert, but without subs!
Can anyone help me with this please?
If I can somehow rip the subs I can use ffmpegX.
    Thanks.

Maybe avidemux, add the subtitle filter, change to xvid and convert. But it might be bit buggy with mkv h264 files though.

And have you updated to latest mkvtools?

@Baldrick. You are correct. MKVtools 2.2 still buggy with mkv h264 files.
MKV will not convert although it now recognizes and will extract the sub, video, and audio tracks. Extracted subs are not recognizable on avidemux. All 3 tracks are not recognizable on ffmpegX.

@Bladrick: is there anyway to make an extracted sub file work please? I extracted a sub and changed it from .aas to .srt but it is still not recognized. I can convert visual and audio tracks using Handbrake.
    Thanks.
