I have been playing with the conversion of divx files to mpegs for authoring and burning onto DVDRs.

I have used virtualdub and TMPGEnc without issues to produce my required file output. However following the how to guide has left me with a file in the wrong screen ratio, it is too high and not wide enough. Indeed the conversion of one file had this problem and blackbars left and right as well as top and bottom, it was a widescreen movie...

I am sure the problem lies in the chosen ratios within tmpgenc but dont know hy.... can anyone provide me with a good site with more info or are thee charts anywhere of the settings to use depending on the source file?

My apologies for the stupid questions, I am sure I am missing something obvious here.

example. original file dets are 352x240 pixels 20fps

Choice at wizard start is NTSC DVD
TMPGEnc recommends a setting of 4:3 NTSC which I have left, agrees with site recommendations per help.
Everything else left pretty much at default as per the conversion guide on this site......

heeeeeellllllppppppp!!! thanks people
