If I rip Men In Black using DVDShrink selecting the 5.1 audio stream (2nd audio selection) VOB2MPG works just fine. However, since the stream is 0x81 instead of 0x80, I don't get any sound on my extender. If I used DVDDecrypter and remap the 0x81 to 0x80, the resulting IFO file is unreadable by VOB2MPG and I can't create the mpg in IFO mode. I'd probably still rank in the newbie category so please make your suggestions geared towards that audience.

I have no idea what an "extender" is, but you are definitely making this a LOT harder than it needs to be.
First of all, do note that DVDShrink and DVD Decrypter CANNOT be updated and have NOT been updates in years. The authors were given an offer they could not refuse by an entertainment company and forced to abandon both projects. If you rip enough American DVDs, eventually you will find some that can't be ripped by those 2 programs. You could use DVDFab HD Decrypter (free) in those cases.
Anyway, if DVDShrink works, then DVDDecrypter will too. Just rip with DVDDecrypter and when using DVDShrink, just deselect whatever audio you don't want. It's just that easy. I'm not sure why you are using VOB2MPG as that seems unnecessary to me. -
My apologies, I'm used to being on TheGreenButton.com. An extender is a device that connects to Windows Media Center and can be served up media. I use the program MyMovies2 for my DVD library online, which integrates into Media Center. The most successful method I've found to playback ripped movies through MyMovies2 is to first rip the movie then run VOB2MPG. However, I've recently found that extenders won't play the audio unless it's on 0x80. Running Media Center on the PC itself will play the video just fine, but I've a feeling it's some type of codec thing that doesn't get downloaded to the extender.
I shall try that program you suggested to see if it works better for me, thank you for the suggestion. I hope I clarified my reasons, if I have not, please let me know and I'll see if I can explain it better. -
In Shrink, going Output Files->Logical remapping of enabled streams might (should?) help. If it does what I think it does, it should move the 0x81 audio into the now empty 0x80 slot.

DVDFab HD does the same thing, extracts it to stream 81. While I agree with jman98, all of the DVDs that this is needed on are old, which is why they have the 2 channel audio as the default audio stream. I'll use DVDDecrypor on these old ones and use DVDFab on the new ones. I'm able to use the VOBSet mode in VOB2MPG to convert the DVD for MyMovies so it seems to be working out OK.
