I'm finding that in about 1 out of 6 burns imgburn finishes without the operation successfully completed window so i have to go to task manager to exit imgburn as it wont close cause it says are you sure you want to cancel, thing is after the burn and scan i get the finished successful jingle but this glitch.

The disc test and play ok,just wanted to see if anybody else had this problem, never happened with v2.4.2 or before.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

I'm using ImgBurn 2.4.4.0 at present and haven't seen that. I haven't seen it with earlier versions either.

Could you post a ImgBurn log of one of the problem burns? That might show something.

I have actually had that issue with a few versions, including 2.4.2, also with dvd decrypter so i'm guessing it is not an actual problem with the program, what exactly the problem is i'm not sure
Maybe it is a problem with the program, but for a long time i had no problems with the old version & the last 2 new versions there seem to be many bugs, and there was a thread started about it here and on the official ImgBurn board.

It's been pretty rare, but there have been more then a couple of issues i know have to be because of the last 2 new versions of ImgBurn.

So exactly who was the moron that said computers would make life easier ??

    johns0,

In the ImgBurn menus, if you click "Help" - "ImgBurn Logs", you can check if you already have a log from one of the problem burns.

    johns0,

Well, the log says the burn and verification worked, and there's no problems with the other details, so the disk is fine.

While there may not be a functional problem, glitches like that have a knack for slowly driving you insane, so it's still a problem. Unless Lightning UK! just happens on this thread, you'll probably have to post this problem over at the ImgBurn site. He has the source code, and is familiar with the inner workings of the program, so he's most likely to be able to understand what the problem might be.

If it's a problem with ImgBurn, it must happen sometime after "ImgBurn closed!" is written to the log, which can't be much code to look through. If it's some kind of a hardware problem, it's likely Lightning UK! has run into it before. Either way, your best bet is to consult directly with him.

On a side note, that's one of the cleanest "I've got a problem" burn logs I've ever seen. It was a pleasure to read...except, of course, for the whole "not being able to help you" part.

Just FYI some of the Verbatim DVD-R discs have had problems before. Have you tried other media like TY or Verbatim DVD+R media?

I think its a bug cause it only affects the closing of imgburn after a successful burn and scan, the only thing i have to do when this bug appears is end process of imgburn cause it will not exit, clicking on the close icon gives the cancel request but doesnt close even after 15 minutes.

I just wanted to see if anybody else had this happen here, its just a minor bug so i can live with it since it doesnt affect the burns.

It happens on 3 different brand of dvdr,mmc-,cmc+ and sony+.Now that we have newegg.ca i'm gonna get Taiyo Yuden from them.

    johns0,

If it helps any, ImgBurn would be using the same sequence of instructions after writing "ImgBurn closed!" to the log, regardless of the burn specifics. In other words, the cpu is almost certainly getting the same instructions from ImgBurn after every burn. If the messagebox (which says something like "Burn successfully completed") doesn't display after 1 out of 6 burns, it's unlikely to be a problem with ImgBurn.

I have absolutely no experience with 64 bit Vista, so I don't know, but are there event logs (or the equivalent) you could check for errors?

    johns0,

It could be that the message box is displaying, but is under another window so you can't see it. Because of the way messageboxes work, it would send any keystrokes or mouse clicks to the hidden message box, and not to the ImgBurn window. I know it sounds silly, but have you tried just hitting the "Enter" key when the problem occurs? If the messagebox is just hidden, that would close the messagebox and return the focus to the ImgBurn window.

That log looks fine. I'm thinking it may be a communication problem with the burner, where ImgBurn isn't getting a 'all done' signal from it, or it's another program or the OS that may be interfering with ImgBurn closing properly. But that's just a guess.

LightningUK! would be the one that might have a better insight on the exit procedure the program uses.

For the present, I would downgrade to a earlier version of ImgBurn if it's really bothering you and that fixes it, and report it as a bug in the software.

I'll try 2.4.2 and see how it goes, when a program loses focus usually you cant interact with the menu at all, with imgburn i can access the menu but it wont exit even though i get the option to cancel the procedure. There's also no minimized window either,i service computers for other people when it comes to software problems so i go through all the hoops in checking.

  15. I just set up my new laptop with Vista 64 HP on it. I have IMG Burn installed but haven't burned anything with it yet. I'll let you know if I hit a similar problem. I'm almost willing to bet it has something to do with the SPTI interface. I've always used ASPI on my XP rigs and never had any problems at all with IMGBurn. From what I understand ASPI is a real pain to get working on Vista 64 so I'm not planning on using it unless I have to.

  17. Sorry, I just need you to confirm a few things...

Once the burn/verify is complete, you aren't seeing an 'Operation Successfully Completed!' message box?

Does the program stay on the burn/verify progress screen or are you taken back to the initial one (i.e. where you 'start' the burn) ?

What's written in the status bar after you've attempted to close the program down? Does this ever change (i.e. after a period of time) ?

You would indeed be much better off posting this on my forum, I can't check everywhere and problems need to be brought my attention rather than just reverting to a previous version.

This isn't a problem I've ever seen or heard of but I'll look into it so long as I know exactly what I'm looking into!

Nope, dont see a 'Operation Successfully Completed!' message box.

Nothing else gets written in the log after it says successful burn completed,i've checked the logs and it never mentions anything out of the ordinary.

What i'm gonna do is uninstall 2.4.2 and install 2.4.4 and see if the problem happens again,I asked in this forum if anyone else had seen this issue so i could determine if it could be a problem in my computer, most of the regulars here use imgburn and i figured they would know ,who knows, maybe vista service pack 2 caused it.

  19. Ok so you're not getting a message box. Because you ARE getting the log entry, that can only be happening because:

    1. The burn queue isn't empty.
    2. You've told the program/computer to close down when it's done.
    3. The actual messagebox function is failing.

I assume you don't have the program minimised (either to the taskbar or the system tray) at this time?
It might also be worth checking if you get the 'Success' sound when the box doesn't show up - as that should start playing first.

When I said 'status bar', I really did mean the status bar (the bar at the bottom of the main window), not the log.
I can see from your initial post that's nothing is written to the log

    I'm using SP2 myself so I don't think that's it.

I get the success sound playing when the burn and scan is finished but the box to end the session doesnt appear, its not minimized.

  21. Ok well I've added some debug output to at least have some sort of record of that happening - you'll need to have 'DebugView' running to actually see it though (and of course it's only in my private 'beta' version!).

Can you reproduce this problem with any sort of consistency and it's not just a problem when something like the screensaver is running or the machine is locked is it? (i.e. you can still be using the machine at the time and still won't pop the box up)

Havent had any issues since installing 2.4.4 again,i believe it was a glitch in the install due to windows in the first place so i would say the problem is resolved.
