NTSC Camcorder feed thru capture from PAL

I'm going to a country that friends have some old sony tapes recorded on sony recorder in PAL. I can't take too many stuff with me a laptop and I like to buy a camcorder with feed thru so I can capture those old tapes as well. Memory card might be better because of the compact size and maybe safer going thru magnetic fields or heat etc.
My question is do these newer ones have feed through? The other thing is since the tape is PAL if I connect it to a camcorder that is NTSC from US would that work can I capture it ? I have to change it to US NTSC standard here later.

Almost never works.

I take a laptop with IEEE-1394 + Canopus ADVC-100 to do this. I either encode to PAL MPeg2 or keep PAL DV format on a portable hard drive. No need to convert to NTSC. I can play PAL at home.

Yes that is the current model. You can easily resell it on ebay.

Best get the optional power supply. A laptop may not be able to power it over IEEE-1394 (6pin).

Remember DV format records about 13GB per hour so you may need a second disk drive.

That supply there is overpriced.

You need 5vdc at 2.5 amps.
