  1. Ok here we go.
I rip my dvds with DvdDycrypter then use DVD2AVI then to Tmpgenc.
This gives me excellent quality dvds! I say better than some SVCDs i have seen

Well all i want to do is simply take the subtitles from the dvd and place them on the VCD. Yes i know there permenant and will not be able to turn them off so alls i need to know is how to get them from the dvd to the vcd.

I have read the post and there is not a clear explination of this process. Remember dvd to vcd using dvddycrypter --> dvd2avi --> tmpgenc + SUBTITLES.

Thanks guys. Hopefully this post will help everyone else.

    Sincerly,

    ClownTux :P

Well, either you use DVDx or Flask as Betamax mentioned or you need another tool to frameserve like Avisynth or VirtualDub. There are different subtitle filters. Here is the dvd2avi>Avisynth>Tmpg method:

    btw, search the forum please.

  4. Thanks guys for the replys!

Truman I wanted to ask you, I tried the dvdx and got shisty encodes compared to tmpgenc VCD. So i am going to go with the dvd2avi>Avisynth>Tmpg method: but after i install Avisynth (version 1.05) and use the mpeg2dec.dll and make the avs file:

    loadplugin("C:\mpeg2dec.dll")
    loadplugin("C:\winnt\system32\vobsub.dll")
    mpeg2source("d:\dvdrips\blood\blood.d2v")
    vobsub("d:\blood\vts_01_0")

but when i try to run it in media player (which you can to see if it works) it says line 3 error

    and it freezes tmpg ...???

    Please help me out

I set up vobsub configure too....

    thanks

  9. I'm glad you got it worked out...

For those of you interested in using subtitles (and using DVD2AVI), I suggest that you check out the guides at http://www.doom9.net as they are very comprehensive.

IMHO, FlaskMPEG + Panasonic is a MUCH easier and better way of getting subtitles.
