  1. I went to China, and bought a ton of DVD's recently. The DVD's are really good quality, but they have chinese subtitles at the bottom already in the movie. It's not like something that can be deactivated, it's in the actual movie. whenever I try to deactive it, it says "no subtitles are present in this movie". So anyways, is there a way I can get rid of those and rip them, and make svcd's out of it? A setting I can mess with that would just cut the chinese out of it? the characters are below the action of the movie, on the black part, so it seems doable, but I'm not sure.

  2. Well if the characters are in the black part then yeah, you can just crop them out. Rip the DVD, then run DVD2AVI. Under 'video' choose 'clip/resize.' A dialog box will appear, click the top right button to enable the crop window. Drag the preview bar to a part of the video with subs and a bright back ground (to make sure you cut all the black), and crop it out.
