Tv tuner software

I have a Hauppauge 1600 with wintv6. I got all the analog and QAM channels coming in fine but overall the program isn't that great so I wanted an alternative. I tried MediaPortal, it got all the analog and all but 4 or 5 of the QAM's. Now after using Mediaportal for awhile, I went back to wintv and the QAM channels were not tuning in, just a black screen. Analogs were fine, but no QAM.

Is it that you can't have two programs that tune QAM channels? I checked the task manager and did not see anything of mediaportal running when I tried wintv again.

It is more likely a hardware or cable issue. There should be no problem with installing several different software packages. Unless of course you are trying to use them simultaneously.

I have 2 1600's in my pc. I use GB-PVR. I get more QAM channels in GB-PVR than WinTv6. It's a free program so you may want to give it a try. I use the older drivers that were in the 3.4d1 download. I could never get QAM working right with the newer drivers.
