  1. I have downloaded some AVI's and am trying to encode them with TMPGEnc. When I enter the file as the source, I get a message that says it is unsupported or cannot open. I tried to use the AVISynth method of an earlier post with no success. Can someone tell me why this wont work? Is it something with frame rates? The AVI is done at 20 fps. Can I change this in TMPGEnc? Please help. I am flooded with AVI's I cannot do anything with. Thanks

that is 100% correct. sorry to say but you cant create any kind of decent VCD using SMR movies as a source.

that is unless you dont mind it duplicating frames to create the proper frame rate and massive amounts of macroblocks because you are creating a file with a bitrate of 1150 from of a file with a bitrate of 350. that means you are trying to triple the information in the file.

sorry dude they are good to see the movie on your computer but not good enough to make a VCD.

BTW the reason you get the unsupported message is because despite the file extension it is in all actuality an asf file and asf is not supported. you may be able to get it to work with an older version of TMPGEnc but we are talkin WAY to much effort for a really poor result.
