Need more help with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 Speed up/Transparancy

I am continuing to make my video and some tasks are seemingly impossible to put through Nothing in Help or I just can't find how to do..

1) How to speed up an event/separate video file?

2) How to make the event on the other track that being put against the background event to be transparant on all edges?
It should be smoothly incorporated.

1) How to speed up an event/separate video file?

1) In Vegas Pro you can either (Not sure if Movie Studio does both, but should be able to do at least 1):

a) Use velocity envelope. (insert=>video=>event velocity). This will graphically add a line to the track where you drag it up or down to increase/decrease the speed. You can right click the line to add points and adjust the speed between those segments (i.e. do it in segments), and also see more options

b) cntrl+left click the end of the track and shrink/expand it to either speed/slow it down. If you right click the track and look at the properties, this will be reflected in the playback rate (which you can also adjust by entering a number)

2) Not sure what you mean... can you clarify?

Do you want to feather the edge (so they don't look so sharp) ? Because if you just "make it transparent on the edges" you are essentially shrinking the overlay as the edge recedes
