    Just got a JVC miniDV camera with DV output,after i capture the video (DV-AVI) to my pc i cant convert it to mpeg2 in 16:9, only in MP4 i can do this, even that the video is shoot in 16:9 from the camera itself

    i use AVS video converter

    any recommendations or is there anything i do wrong?

    Use a better mpeg2/dvd converter like for example the free hcenc or an all-in-one solution for it like FAVC or AVStoDVD.

    Or use other good mpeg2 encoders like tmpgenc xpress, tmpgenc plus, mainconcept reference, cinemacraft encoder basic.

    it works, yes it's far better

    but i feel like the DV AVI have better frame rate or quality

    Check your encoding settings. The bitrate and motion compensation settings on your MPEG-2 encoder might not be set correctly. For whatever tool you are using, check for online guides and forums for optimal settings.

    Best is subjective, but WinDV is very good and what I use.
    DVIO is also good but doesn't have a preview window. It can sometimes work better on older machines.
    Scenalyzer is another free option (older version).
