Hello. I have 2 printers shared on lan. One of the printers i can configure the properties on the server and the other machines, but the other printer, i cannot configure it on the client machines, i can only acces the properties on the machine it is installed. When i try to access from the lan computers, it says something about a permission. The curious is this didn't happened before. I suspect it was because i installed ESET smart security, and somehow it bloqued the printers properties to be modified by lan computers, but i uninstalled ESET and installed MS One care, and the problem continues. Any thoughts?

  2. The windows permissions may have shifted. Check the permissions and make sure that you have permissions to manage printers and manage documents. You may also need to restart the print spooler service and possible remove the printer and add it back in.

It has nothing to do with formatting the computer. It is a permissions issue. You formatted the computer for no reason.

@ the OP: Do you think the error message that says something about a permission might be contain a clue ?

Try googling the exact text contained in the error message. If possible take a screenshot of the error and post it here.

It is most likely to be in the permissions screen on the PC that the printer is installed on:

    Here's mine:

You need to provide permissions to the appropriate group of users - if it is only a small home LAN then I would give the Everyone group all permissions.
    If in doubt, Google it.

All you should have to do is ensure that it is shared. The only time I've had issues sharing a printer is when you start mixing XP and Vista.
