  1. Please read through the following to understand the issue I'm facing. I think it can be resolved by proper conversion ..

    muneeb.ansari posted 2009 Mar 01 08:34 Hi ..

I have a Panasonic SC-PT150 Home Theater which has a USB Terminal for MP3, WMA, JPEG and MPEG4 Playback.
I'm able to play MP3, WMA and JPEGs off a USB but its not letting me play any video format through the USB. Its guide says:
You can play MPEG4 data [conforming to SD VIDEO specifications (ASF standard)/MPEG4 (Simple Profile) video system/G.726 audio system] recorded with the Panasonic SD multi cameras or DVD Recorders.
And it also says the it can only play MPEG4s with ".ASF" extension recorder from a Panasonic D-snap/DIGA.

Can anyone let me know how to convert the MP4s and AVIs I have on my computer to the above mentioned formats so that I can play 'em on the Home Theater through a USB? Or better yet, if someone can just let me know how to play video files in this Home Theater model through a USB?

Just so you guys know, I have already tried several formats (VOB, MOD, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DV (AVI), ASF etc.)

    Thanks.

I can't recommend a single program to convert everything. However the program SUPER or xvid4psp might be good ones to start with.

Just remember that you will most likely have to have the storage device formated to fat32 which means you won't be able to have individual files sizes larger than 4gb.

Thanks Yoda but I've already tried converting the AVIs and MPEGs to DV and DV-AVI formats but its not working.
I think the problem is that the Panasonic has a slightly different format for creating files on it DVD Recorders and DigiCams .. so I need a converter which can convert my videos to Panasonic's proprietary formats ..

    BTW .. for conversion .. I was using Xilisoft's Video Converter ..

My suspicion is it won't support that. Have you tried plain old divx or xvid? Those should be worth a try on that.

    Hey ..
No, I tried that too (DivX, XviD, DVD, VCD and SVCD formats) but to no use ..
I plugged in a Panasonic Camcorder to the USB terminal and it played the video just fine ..
So guess the solution is to fool the Home Theater into thinking that its reading from a "Panasonic" CamCorder or "Panasonic" DVD Recorder .. any idea how to do that?
    Thanks ..

It may not be possible. It could be thinking it is looking JUST for the signature of a panasonic device.

There might be someway to mask video to do that but I'm not sure if you can fake it that much.

I'm by no means an expert on everything but it seems that its very very picky on what it will except.

I wish you luck as I'm out of suggestions. Perhaps someone else can pitch in.

    Thanks Yoda.
Another idea .. though I dont have the Panasonic CamCorder now .. but if someone can mail me a file recorded with a Panasonic CamCorder or a Panasonic DVD Player .. I can copy it to my USB and try playing it .. if thats succesfull then that would mean its about the format and not the signature of the device.
Do let me know if you can get your hands on a file recorded with a Panasonic CamCorder or a Panasonic DVD Player. Will give you my email and you can mail it there.

    Thanks.
