  1. I am trying to create a true DVD from Hi8 tape. I am using Ulead Video Editor 6.0(from MS Pro) (with patch to 6.0.0.2) and MovieFactory. The DVD Plug-In was installed and then uninstalled.

I used Video Capture to get almost 2 hours of video (Sony Hi8 -->
Canon DV with analog inputs --> Firewire). The resulting AVI is about 23 GB. I have successfully edited this AVI, adding background music, title overlays and transitions. I can preview the entire file.

However, when I try to create an AVI that includes all of my editing, the process halts after about 5 minutes with a message that implies my disk drive is full. The output file when it crashes is over 5 GB but I have plenty of room.

When I try to create an MPEG2 file, I get a message: "Failed to open the MPEG encoder".

Movie Factory will import my raw AVI. How can I get the editted version in a form (AVI or MPEG2, I presume) that can be moved to DVD?

    Thanks for any help.

  2. I no longer need an answer. I deleted a number of entries in the registry and in the system32 directory. I have other problems but this one is fixed.
