  1. Couldn't get that f&%&% MMC 7.0 working, everytime I launched Video-in thing all I get Window blue screen complaining something and nothing happens.

I was able to get some kind of picture with virtualdub 1.4.8
after I installed that wrapper thing. However the picture is crap !!
    Here is example:

Has this something to do with macrovision. I get this picture with
    all video tapes (new/old, doesen't matter ).
Or is it ATI driver/MMC version etc. problem ????

    Much worse than Macrovision.
    Wrong broadcast system.

You're either trying to capture PAL broadcast and your capture card is set to NTSC, or vice-versa.

    Open Video-In application.
    Right-click on the screen area.
    Choose Setup.
    Go to 'Video' tab.
    Change the Broadcast standard.
    Voila.

If you're not sure what standard to check, go to 'Display' tab, start the Initlization Wizard, and through it, it will ask you for your country. From that information, it will decide what broadcast system to use.

By the way - anyone here has a method of changing broadcast system from within VirtualDub? Unless I load Video-In first, ATI seems to 'reset' itself back to NTSC every time I reboot. Anyone?

  3. I would but I can't launch Video-in. I get blue Window screen with Fatal error.
I tried to instal mmc 6.3 but it only instals DVD,Video Editor, CD audio sections. I can't see tv application thing in mmc panel, why ???

    I have w98SE, MSI K7T Turbo board
Latest Radeon drivers (have tried with older drivers too), directx8.0a, Via
    Agp drivers

  4. Well I figured what caused the Video-in softaware to make fatal error but
    still need help

It seems that MMC don't like me installing VIA AC'97 PCI Sound Drivers. I have used MSI K7T Turbo boards integrated sound system.

I made drastic move, cleaned my harddrive and started from clean "table".

    Installed

    1. WIndows98Se
    2. Directx 8.0a, Video patch
    3. Latest Radeon drivers (wme_radeon_4_13_7189)
    4. from original ATI cd that come with card I installed capture components
and MMC 7.0 (only Video-in part)

after this MMC Video-in lauched fine (however didn't try to capture anything). However I noticed that I hadn't installed VIA AC'97 PCI Sound Drivers because I don't have separate soundcard. When installed the drivers got messages like this with two files, ksuser.dll WDM and CODEC Class Device Driver 2.0

    >A File beimg copied is older than the file currently on your computer.
    >It is recommemded that you keep your existing file.
    >
    >File name: ksuser.dll , WDM CODEC Class Device Driver 2.0
    >Description: User CSA Library
    >Your version: 4.90.3000.400

    >Do you want to keep this File?

    I kept these files.
Now after this when I tried to launch MMC Video-in program I got Windows blue screen complaining fatal error.
After I removed VIA AC'97 PCI Sound Drivers, Video-in program lauched OK.

So there is probably some conflict with VIA AC'97 PCI Sound Drivers and MMC files ??.
I wonder what it is ????
are the VIA drivers too old or doesn't ATI card like integrated sound system in general.
I should probably try VIA forums..
but I suspect that easiest solution is to buy cheap soundcard and not use VIA integrated one
