dvd-video authoring problems

I'm a begginer in dvd-video authoring and i have found this problems.

Im working with Daikin Scenarist, Pioneer DVR-A03 and DVD-R Verbatim.

When i burn the premaster in a DVD-R or DVD-RW it play correctly in
pc dvd player, but it don't play in a Phillips home DVD player. Does
somebody know why? Can you hel me?

With what tool are you burning with? Many get playing problems when burning with nero but it works when they burn directly with authoring tools like dvdit,mydvd...

I have burned it with Daikins Scenarist authoring tool and i have attempted with instantCD/DVD too but with the same result.

This sounds interesting. I have problems with Nero 5.5 on XP (using a Toshiba CDRW/DVD drive). So should I consider using a "direct authoring tool" such as the one you mention? Where can I find DVDIT or MYDVD? Would really really appreciate some links.
