  1. I want to backup some of my DVDs to be able to play in my media pc which is connected to my 42" TV. I also want to be able to keep the subtitle. The only program that I have found that is able to keep the subtitle is DVDFab. Are they any other good programs that can do that? And of course I want the outcome to be the best quality as possible...the file size does not matter to me.

  2. if all you care about is the quality then don't re-encode to anything. keep dvd video as is. copy the video_ts folder to the hard drive and call it a day. ANY re-encoding will cause a loss of quality.

  3. And there are a ton of programs that will keep the subs, either as separate files or burned or embedded into the video. One such program is AutoGK. It creates XviD or DivX AVIs, though, and as minidv2dvd says, any reencoding lowers the quality.
