First off I'm using Avi2dvd to convert video. I'm using imgburn to burn dvd. Previously I had converted and burned about 7 avi files and put them on dvd with Winavi. They all came out fine. After that I got two more avi files and went through the same process and they didn't work. I figured it was the Winavi software, so I got Avi2dvd. Well this software isn't working either. When the disc is put in the dvd player it has an error saying that it has no playback function. I went back and converted one of the previous avi's that worked on dvd and it came out fine, so what is my problem. Could someone please explain this to me.

There are a few steps to this process. First, the avi files are being encoded to DVD spec mpeg2 files (conversion). The new files are then placed into a format readable by DVD players (authoring). The DVD ready files are then burned to a disc (burning). Most problems occur in the first two steps and are typically the result of corrupt input files or simply application issues.

I'd suggest using a different application. ConvertXtoDVD is one of the best, although not free. DVD Flick or FAVC would be the free choices. If you still have problems, then you likely have corrupt files.

Thanks for the information. I'll try one of those other programs and see. So, if I have a corrupt file, will it still be able to play on my computer. The files that didn't work on the dvd player works fine on the computer.

Yes, depending on the player used, many will play just fine on your PC.
