  1. hello people. i have a hitachi mini dvd camera. once a dvd was finished i finalized it put it in my computer. now here i see 2 folders one DVD_RTAV and RTR_EXTN. inside DVD_RTAV (there is VR_MANGR.BUP file, VR_MANGR.IFO and VR_MOVIE.VRO). inside RTR_EXTN (RX.DAT and VR_STDUM.000). my question is how do i take these files and play them on a dvd player? tell me all the software i need and step by step instructions. thanks. and 1 more thing: this finalized mini dvd, can i use it again on my camera?

  2. You can use the dvd again only if it is a RW disc. You would have to format it though.

If your dvd player plays mpeg files, you can simply change the extension of the vr_movie.vro file and burn that to a disc and is should play. If not, you can use various software to make a playable dvd movie. I use womble vieo wizard. I import the newly renamed vr_movie file to it, edit it if I need to, then I can either use the dvd maker option or I will use dvd author pro to create a dvd. When you create a dvd, it has two files; an audio_ts file and a video_ts file. The audio file is empty, but it is required for it to be able to play in most dvd players. I hope this helps.

Don't use Nero. Womble was the better idea.

I'm still waiting for someone to help me with this renaming file issue. I took all the steps with my file as listed in this above thread ( I, too, have a Hitachi DVD recorder camera ) and was unable to rename the file. Please offer suggestions, those of you who are brilliant at this. Thanks so much. I hate to lose my trip file!!

You have to copy the file off of the DVD to your hard drive before you can rename it, since the DVD has been finalized and is no longer able to be changed.
