  1. Hi all,

I'm having trouble cutting an MKV file. Basically, I want to save an hour of video from an event and then delete the rest, while maintaining the original quality as much as possible.

    1) I've tried using iSkysoft Video Converter Platinum, but the cut video size ends up being way too big. I told it to keep the original resolution, frame rate, and Bit Rate for the video and to save it as "common video > MKV" and the size is projected to be 16777216 TB. When I try making the settings manually, it tells me the size will be 1.6 GB (which sounds right for the amount I'm cutting out), but it ends up being over 3 GB. I assume making it "HD video > MKV" would be even worse.

    2) I tried using Avidemux, but when I select the portion to cut and then "Cut", it just seems to unselect the frame markers A and B and then it just doesn't do anything.

I didn't find any applicable guides or previous threads that address my problem. If anyone can answer my questions or point me to a guide/thread that I missed, I'd appreciate it.

I can also post the video information log (that lists the original video's bit rates, etc.) if it would help.

    Thanks.
