You might want to be more specific about the make/model of car and where you live (urban, suburban, rural, etc.).

    18 year old male driver.

That sentance make insurance companies smile (for the $$$) and cringe in fear (beacause of your lack of experience)

GEICO will probably cost you more. I would suggest Progressive insurance. Also being a 1995 vehicle, you would only need PIP and Liability to be "legal". So full coverange is probably not what you want. Shop around to find the best deal.

  8. Heres the funny thing, the quote I got from progressive was 5200.00 a year for minimum coverage while geico came in 2672.00 for the same minimum coverage.

You need to try one of the cheapo auto insurance agencies (in South Florida we have tons of them). Tell them you need the minimum amount of coverage to get the car registered. I would use the yellow pages and call around. The big companies are going to charge you a lot more.

Drive carefully! Accidents and tickets are like taking your money and putting it in a big pile and setting it on fire. Insurance companies are the biggest ripoff in this country.

Go to independent insurance agent. They can get quoates from several companies at once. Because of your age and experiance you will be paying higher premiums until you're 24 then they will start to go down. The more tickets and accidents the bigger the premium. You will need PL/PD Personal Liablity and Propertiy Damage.

  11. get another Progressive quote, but have your parents do the quote in their name, with you on there as a driver. Progressive doesn't have any issues with who the car is titled to, some companies say the titled owner must be the named insured, but not Progressive. your parents may qualify for discounts that you don't being you're 18. at your age, though, EVERYONE's rate will be high.

depending what state you're in, you may only have to carry liability, and possibly uninsured motorist coverage, but if anything else happens to the car, it's coming out of your pocket.
