I just ripped a vob file(2.3gb) using dvd shrink. I want to split the vob up into separate clips (it contains different music videos). I just tried using mpeg video wizard.. i selected the portion then exported to dvd mpeg.. it takes about 15minutes to do a 3 minute clip. i'll be here forever... is there an easier way to split the files ????

The vobs are a sort of container, so often you'll want to demux, then process the audio/video. There are apps in the Tools section that will do cutting & joining. Shrink, TMPGEnc's Mpeg Tools & probably others will let you set start and end points for a clip, writing a new file. And, also make sure Shrink doesn't list your separate videos as separate titles already in the reauthor section -- then just shrink them one at a time. Might also check out apps like Redo

  7. I have managed to cut the beggining off my film but I am trying really hard to cut something off the end but it is just not happening.
I have followed the info in the guide but I just wish this program was just a little simpler and easier to use...I just want to edit and save VOB files. I need to cut a small pice of junk of the beggining and end...why is this so hard to do?

Well... here's another way or two that you might/might not like any better...

Using DGIndex you can load vobs (1 or many), set in and out points, then demux audio, video, creating audio wav from ac3 if you wish. Depending on what software you're using next, what you want to do with vid/audio, might have to remux etc...

Can demux the whole thing out of vob, mux to mpg, & then using Project x, or many of the cutter/joiner apps, save sections of the mpg file. Again, if you actually need vobs would involve DVD authoring prog.

"i just downloaded the trial version of mpeg tools.. when i load the vob file, i'm not getting audio. But i do get audio when i load an mpeg file"

Possible wav audio in vob? Might have to demux from vob 1st?

"I have managed to cut the beggining off my film but I am trying really hard to cut something off the end but it is just not happening. "

A guess to what's happening would be that cutting only happens at an I frame, so sometimes have to cut more then you'd like. Cuttermaran & womble software will regenerate any missing video so more frame accurate cuts are possible.
